Meaning “old beer” in German, its name comes from the traditonal technique of high-temperature fermentation (top-fermenting yeast), commonly used in the days before modern low-temperature beer fermentation (bottom-fermenting yeast). Well-rounded with biscuit-like flavorings. Refreshing, rather bitter, and dry aftertaste. Forceful, genuine beer. Capacity: 750 ml Pairings: Very good with "pizza" and hot spicy "spaghetti". Beef stew and grilled beaf steak.
